Spicy Sticky Baked Gochujang Wings

These Gochujang Chicken Wings are sweet, spicy and so deep in flavour – they make a great addition to any party or game day! Serve with some refreshing sides like pickled radish, seasoned cucumber and rice for a completely satisfying meal.

It’s all about the sauce

  • Chicken wings, drumlets or mid-joints – We highly recommend these, as they are small and hence have large surface areas to be coated in the wonderful marinade, plus baking bone-in pieces will result in juicy and tender bites
  • Gochujang – The ingredient that gives this dish its unique sweet and spicy taste. We always use Haepyo Gochujang.
  • Oyster sauce, Honey, Soy sauce – The 3 wingmen that help to amplify the umami and sweet profile of the main lead
  • Rice wine – This adds depth and flavour complexity to dishes and is frequently used not only in marinades but also sauces
  • Sesame oil – Gives the chicken a pretty shine and prevent drying out. We used Beksul Sesame Oil.
  • Garlic – Adds more taste and kick

Easy Gochujang Wings

What we love about this recipe is how simple it is.

  1. Wash. Rinse the chicken and drain well.
  2. Marinade. Combine all ingredients for marinade, mix in chicken and let them sit in fridge for 2-4 hours, overnight is best.
  3. Preheat oven at 218C for 10 mins.
  4. Bake. Spread the marinated chicken on a baking tray and bake for 20-25 mins, till the juice runs clear.

These Spicy Sticky Baked Gochujang Wings are not really that spicy (IMO), and you can certainly tweak the spiciness to your liking. But to quench a chili-induced thirst, here are some drinks that go well with the dish:

  • 4 tbsp gochujang
  • 4 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice wine
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
